Newcastle United will be looking to continue their recent impressive form across all competitions when they welcome Wolves to St James’ Park for Premier League Matchday 21 on Thursday evening.

The hosts are cooking on gas in recent weeks. Eddie Howe’s men were last in action last weekend when they hosted League Two Bromley in the third round of the FA Cup. Thanks to goals from Miley, Gordon and Osula, the Magpies came from a goal down to claim a comfortable 3:1 victory and booked their place in the fourth round. Eddie Howe’s side have now won each of their last eight games in all competitions and their fans will be hoping they can extend that run this week.

Wolves have not looked the same since the sacking of Gary O’Neil a month ago. The Wanderers have lost just one of their four league games under Vítor Pereira, beating Man United and Leicester City and drew with Tottenham. They booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 2:1 win over Bristol City but once again their defensive problems were exposed.

Wolves are also having a great run in the final third right now. They scored in each of their last four away matches, including 2+ goals in each of the last three.

Crystal Palace aim to create more distance from the relegation zone as they travel to King Power Stadium to face struggling Leicester in Wednesday’s EPL clash.

Leicester City, the surprise champions of the 2015-16 campaign, have found their return to England’s elite league anything but straightforward, as they currently languish second to last with only 14 points earned from 20 matches. Although they trail the safety zone by just two points, the Foxes must urgently halt their dismal five-game losing streak in the league, but they received a boost froom a stellar performance over the weekend, where they saw off Queens Park Rangers with a devastating 5-2 in the third round of the FA Cup.

While they didn’t put on a dominant display in the FA Cup weekend action like their Wednesday’s hosts, Oliver Glasner’s side still booked their spot in the fourth round, as Eze’s 4th-minute goal being sufficient to send Stockport County packing. A few day later, Criystal Palace returns to their Premier League duties, where they will look to extend their unbeaten run to four matches and create an even more safer gap from the relegation zone, as they currently hold a five-point cushion over the bottom three.

In the reverse fixture earlier this season, Leicester and Crystal Palace served up a captivating match for the crowd at Selhurst Park to end up sharing the points in a 2-2 draw, and we hope another thrilling contest between them is on the cards here. The Foxes’ defense has proven to be extremely leaky, as shown in their weekend FA Cup clash where, despite conceding two goals, they celebrated a huge 6-2 victory over QPR, and it was also the 10th time in their last 11 matches in all competitions that their goalkeepers has been forced to pick at least two balls out of his own net. However, Palace’s defensive efforts offer little to smile about, especially on enemy territory, given that they have managed to keep their opponents at bay in just two out of 12 road competitive matches this season. After all, recent meetings between these rivals have provided plenty of entertainment, with goals shaking at both ends in six of the last seven H2Hs, and given the vulnerabilities in their defenses this season, we reckon both nets will be moved at least one on Wednesday.

Arsenal return to Premier League action now winless in three matches after a pair of disappointing cup results in the past week. After falling to a 2:0 first-leg defeat in the semi-final of their League Cup tie against Newcastle, the Gunners were then bundled out of the FA Cup on Sunday against a ten-man Manchester United. 

Having been held to a draw at Brighton earlier this year, Mikel Arteta´s side have not won since a 3:1 win at Brentford on New Year’s Day.

While usually reliable on their own patch, Arsenal have failed to win three of their last five games at the Emirates with their only successes coming in hard-fought one goal victories against Crystal Palace (3:2) and Ipswich (1:0).

A lack of clean sheets has been an issue in recent weeks. The Gunners leaked at least one goal in six of their last seven matches. As a result, five of those games saw BTTS. 

Tottenham come into Tuesday’s derby contest with plenty of their own problems to speak of. An injury crisis has come at the worst time for the Lillywhites who failed to win four successive matches before an impressive 1:0 first leg victory against Liverpool in the League Cup last week. However, Ange Postecoglu´s injury-ravaged side needed extra-time to eventually see-off Tamworth in their FA Cup tie on Sunday. 

On the road, Spurs have proven especially inconsistent. Postecoglu´s side lost five of their last eight away EPL matches. However, they did score three big away wins against Manchester United (3:0), Manchester City (4:0) and Southampton (5:0). 

As with most derbies, form usually goes out of the window, and with both teams leaking goals in recent weeks, a high-scoring outcome seems likely.

BTTS has proven a frequent occurrence in previous meetings between these rivals at this venue, and I´m banking on a similar outcome on Wednesday.
